Check the original sources of the in-text references

Quite often, readers neglect checking the original sources of in-text references because they assume news channels to deliver news that is true. However, if a piece of information is critical or contains the name of a specific medicine or treatment, it is advised that you check the original source. Before considering a particular treatment suggested by a news article, weigh all the factors and gather a detailed knowhow from verified information sources. Once you are able to distinguish fake health news from real medical news, you may take an extra step and check the methodology and results of the original research study. One example is NHS Behind the Headlines that assess studies mentioned in medical news to check whether the press reports are correct (Hammond, 2017).
